Monty Coffman makes game-ending sliding
catch to seal Legend League Championship!

Monty Coffman’s Game Ending Sliding Catch Seals League Championship for Schneider Electric 16-15. Frickers Red’s Dave Kunst was already 4 for 4 in the game and stepped to the plate with the score 16-15 in the bottom of the 7th with a man on first and 2 outs. Dave hit a drive that was heading for the gap as Monty Coffman was tracking the ball as it tailed away from him. Monty made a championship saving sliding catch about a foot off the ground to end the game and seal the victory for his team. It was a great ending to a great game by both teams. Other key hits for Schneider included a two out single by Tom Spy in the 6th to score 2 runs as Schneider pulled within one after 6 innings. In the 7th Mike Keaton singled to start the frame and was followed by Dan Calmes 3rd hit of the game to put two on. Jeff Kramer delivered one of the two big hits in the inning with a double and Todd Hofer added the other with a single in the 4 run 7th giving Schneider a 16-13 lead going into the bottom of the 7th. Frickers Red scored two runs to cut the lead a single run before Coffman’s game saving catch. Jeff Lohmeyer (ITP HR, double), Dan Calmes, Jeff Huskisson, Jeff Kramer and Todd Hofer all had 3 hits in the victory.

Andy & Barney's defeats Krieger
12-11 to win the Masters League!

ABchamps
MASTERS LEAGUE CHAMPS! The two top division winners squared off August 28 in a one game show down for the league championship with Andy & Barney's defeating Krieger Real Estate 12-11. Back row, l-r: Dan Schlenbaker, Gary Hoovler, Dave Ashman, Mike Nidek, Dave Kucic & Doug Meek. Front row, l-r: John Kirchoff, Jerry Keefe, Rob Boehme, Roger Kinnersley & Glenn Lewis. Not pictured: Bill Garber. A&B finished with a 10-5 record. The winners receive jackets.

Dan Schlenbaker turns key double-play in the 7th!

Andy & Barneys defeated Kreiger Realty 12-11 in a very competitive and well played game that determined the regular season champions for the Masters 58+ league. A&B jumped out to an early one run lead in the first inning, but Kreiger scored three runs in the third inning to take a 4-2 lead. A&B then scored five runs in the top of the 4th inning to take the lead. Kreiger tallied 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th to take a one run lead. In the key 6th inning, A&B again scored 5 runs to move ahead 12-8. A game Kreiger squad scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th to close the gap to 12-11. A&B was then shut out in the top of the 7th and went to the bottom of the 7th inning with a precarious 1 run lead. After Kreiger led off the 7th with a hit, Dan Schlenbaker made a great defensive play to turn a double play. Then Bill Garber made a terrific throw from the outfield to first base - on a clean single to steal the hit and get the final out of the game. This game truly lived up to the hype of a championship game between two really good, closely matched teams. Doug Meek led A&B's offensive attack by going 3 for 3, while Glen Lewis, Bill Garber, Dave Ashman, Rob Boehme, Dave Kukic, and Roger Kinnersley each collected 2 hits. As has been the case all season, every A&B player contributed positively with John Kirschoff, Dan Schlembacher, Mike Nidek, Gary Hoovler, and Jerry Keefe turning in fine performances. We wish to congratulate a very good Kreigers, Citizens Advisory, and Rudys teams that all matched A&B's 9-5 record in a very competitive and balanced Masters 58+ league. As the manager, I also want to thank every A&B player for their outstanding effort and attitude that, I believe, developed the team chemistry that strongly contributed to our successful season. Gentlemen, I really enjoyed playing with all of you this season as I never heard a single negative comment but instead observed nothing but encouragement among-st teammates. Believe me, it made the difference! Now, on we move to the playoffs! Let's stay hot Andy&Barneys!!!! -Rob Boehme
